The New Education Policy In Uk_32589

The United Kingdom has a well tailored education system. The adult literacy rate in the country is 99 percent. Importance of education in the British society is paramount ever since AD 597 when St.Augustine started a school in Canterbury. In those early periods it was important to study theology as a part of religious education. In the course of several centuries, the process of education evolved through stages. Grammar,Black Uggs Boots, Logic and Rhetoric were taught as the first stage of education. In the second stage arithmetic, Geometry, Astronomy and music were taught. Oxford and Cambridge were considered as centres of learning even in the 16th century. In 1870 England had the first legislation to make education free and compulsory.

In 1902 parliament empowered county councils and county borough councils to run educational institutions. Education Act of 1944 abolished fees in state schools. In England, Scotland and Wales Governments offered liberal grants to encourage education among people. During the colonial periods the Govrnment initiated effective steps to educate people in the colonies around the world. After the Second World War successive governments in the United Kingdom took intensive efforts to reform the education system. The result is that the British Education system became role model for other countries. The Universities in UK attracted aspiring talents from all over the world. Whether it is language,Leopard Uggs Boots, science or art students' destination was UK in those days.

As already mentioned successive governments have made valuable contribution towards the cause of education in the country. Both the Government and the private institutions played important roles to impart education to all segments of the society. In the recent past there is a new school of thought that educational institutions should be established and managed by private sector. Traditionally the Labour dominated Governments gave emphasis to state's role in the education system as they believe that less privileged sections of the society will be deprived of their access to good quality education if the private sector is allowed to monopolize the field. But the Conservatives believe that the quality of education can be improved only if the system is funded liberally. They insist that only private enterprises will be able to provide sufficient funds to modernize the education. The state cannot afford to increase the subsidies as it makes negative impacts on the budget deficits of the country. The Liberal democrats are for extending quality education to the most deprived segments of the society.

The present coalition government have a comprehensive educational policy which is reflected in the Queen's address to the Parliament. Education received priority consideration in the Government agenda. The system will undergo comprehensive reforms. It is a well balanced educational policy that is chalked out by Her Majesty. Even though conservatives and Liberal Democrats are preparing to implement their manifestos on educational reforms,Infants Erin Boots, the Labour party's concept of 'Academy School' programme also received acceptance. The new educational policy will empower parents and other groups to set up free schools without government support.
